A year later the team decided to open a kickstarter surpassing the modest sum of 35000 AUD, allowing not only to enlarge the scope of hte game by also hiring new helpers, but also boosted the team morale. Initially depicted in Hungry Knight for an indie game jam, the team soon liked the hollow knight design and in 2013 they focused on refining it’s movement and creating tons of sketches.
Hollow Knight was the team first big game, and it was a huge effort for the inexperienced but passionate team. It’s my favourite game, tied with another, so I’m being quite subjective, but you have to admit that you have a nugget in your hands and that Silksong is unlikely to disappoint… 6 stars out of 5!!!Īfter the huge success that Hollow Knight has brought its indie dev Team Cherry back in 2017, they promptly announced 2 years later Silksong, the sequel focusing on Hornet the princess-protector of Hallownest.

Team Cherry has promised more content, more enemies, more interesting bosses, in short the best metroidvania of all time, but still improved, refined. The combat abilities are different, the moves are different, the soul system is different. So we hope that June 2023 will be the right one, because the wait is endless. In June 2022, Microsoft announced a release within 12 months, which has not been denied. We have a trailer from 4 years ago, we thought it would be released rather quickly, it’s not. Even if finishing the game at over 110% is not easy, even if you are a seasoned Souls player, believe me.įrankly, this game has it all. Well thought out mobility elements, right down to the rather fair save system, balanced difficulty. A very dynamic gameplay, many ways to play depending on your feeling, the enemies… Free DLC. Tons of secret passages, surprises, unexpected events. Endless exploration, lots of bosses, in various forms, each more demanding than the last. Indeed, it is without doubt the new absolute reference of the Metroidvania genre (in 2D at least). If you haven’t played the first Hollow Knight, you’ve missed out on something in your gaming life, and it’s available on Xbox, Playstation (old and new generation), Switch, PC… so no excuses!
